Women have a much harder time getting six pack abs than men. Biologically, it would seem that the last place fat starts to go is in the abs. The hips, the thighs, and even the butt are much easier to get into the shape that you want. However, those six pack abs are very elusive for women.
To get poppin’ abs, you’ll have to achieve a low level of bodyfat. For most women, that will mean targeting a body fat of under 10%. This is going to require grit, determination, and a bit of planning. To achieve low level of body fat, you’re going to have to pull out all the stops. Your diet will have to be tighter than it’s ever been and your workout will have to be geared for shedding maximum fat.
Your first priority will be get rid of the layer of fat that is covering your abs. Once you’ve accomplished that, the next priority will be to get rid of subcutaneous fat. This is the fat that sits deep under the surface of the skin. And, it’s really hard to target. That’s because you can’t get rid of this fat, until the other ’surface level” fat is gone. In order of priority, this is the last type of fat your body will use for fuel. But, once your body has reached that point that you’re using up the subcutaneous fat, your abs will start becoming more and more defined.
Your diet and your workout are important to getting you from the first stage, to the second stage. But, don’t think that endless ab exercises is going to help you get six pack abs. Yes, you’ll need to do some ab exercises to ensure you get the proper definition, but your workouts need to be focused on burning as much fat as possible.
Weight workouts and cardio work can effectively combine to give you a workout routine that will burn the fat. The only way that fat will burn off the body is through proper workout. Also, if you are very keen to build your abs, then you have to consider the option of some hard workouts. Intense weight lifting and high intensity cardio exercises are the preferred method.
However, there’s a bit of a balancing act to engaging in these types of workouts. If you restrict your diet too severely, you may find that hard workouts are very difficult because you don’t have the proper fuel. So, in order to support intense exercise, you will need sufficient calories and good quality, healthy foods. Otherwise, you’ll hit a wall quickly.
Healthy foods should provide a good mix of proteins, carbs, and healthy fats. Certain foods are better than others. When it comes to protein for example, good choices are fish, chicken, turkey, low fat dairy, low fat yogurt and egg whites.
Sufficient protein will help boost your metabolism and help tone your body. Stay away from the processed meats as they tend to have a lot of fats and will negatively impact your fat loss to a great extent.
Carbs should be of the high fiber variety and should include a lot of vegetables and fruits. More sparingly, include other carbs like oatmeal, brown rice, and whole wheat. Too much of these and your calories will really start to add up.
Diet is very important in toning of the abs. Yet, this is probably where most people fail to realize their dream of getting six pack abs. You will have to be disciplined. For how long depends largely on your current condition. People who are already lean may only need a few weeks to shed the last few pounds. People with a bit more weight should expect this to take longer.
It is very important that you should be calm and patient during the entire process and stay completely focused on the goal. So don’t think just because you have extra fat today that you can’t get cut abs. Stay focused, stay calm, and be clear about your goal. More than any other muscle, it’s your mind that will determine your level of success in achieving six pack abs.
