My friend Kristina and I were talking the other day, she’s trying to get back in shape, and wanted to know about diets. Specifically, she wanted my thoughts on the best diet for fat loss, because she’s tried a few different diets and none really seemed to work for her. One of the things that I told her is that selecting a diet program is a very much a personal decision. What works for one person does not necessarily work for everyone.
I told her that what I wold look for is a diet that’s not too extreme, because that rarely works. People who do extreme diets often lose a bunch of weight right away, and then fail to keep it off. One of the reasons is that these diets are not fat loss diets. They are weight loss diets…The real difference is those diets don’t help you lose fat. They help you lose water and muscle too. Ultimately, these bad diets will slow your metabolism, ruining your chances of really losing fat.
A well structured diet plan will keep your metabolism running high and target fat loss. The diets I am sharing with you here will keep your metabolism healthy and target your fat. These diet and exercise options will produce real fat loss results and aren’t some trendy or gimmicky diet:

Now, perhaps you’ve checked out these and other programs and you’ve decided to try and design your own diet plan. Here’s a couple helpful tips:
- Make vegetables a priority – Try and get vegetables into every meal. They are very low in calories, contain loads of fiber, and are incredibly healthy.
- Eat proteins at every meal – Protein offers several advantages. It’s spares you muscle loss, keeping your metabolism up, and it takes more calories to digest protein than it does carbohydrates.
- Limit your carbohydrate intake. Low carb diet plans, like South Beach or Atkins, have many benefits. But, you don’t need to go to those extremes, merely limit your carbs, keep away from sugars and other refined carbs, and watch out for hidden carbs like corn syrup.
Hopefully, you’ve found a diet plan that suits you. Don’t forget, exercise can be an important component to any weight loss plan.
